⚾ Yankees' Judge Headed to IL With Flexor Strain |
Yankees captain Aaron Judge was diagnosed with a flexor strain in his right elbow and will be placed on the 10-day injured list, Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed on Saturday.
Imaging revealed no damage to his UCL, sidestepping the worst‐case scenario of Tommy John surgery.
Judge first felt pain making a throw in Toronto on Tuesday and aggravated it in recent games, which affected his throwing—but not his swing, so he's expected to return as a designated hitter before gradually working back to outfield duty.
The Yanks are hopeful he’ll return after the minimum 10 days on the IL and slowly ease back into defensive action, with Giancarlo Stanton taking outfield reps in the meantime. |
🏈 Texans' Mixon Out for "Extended Period" With Foot Injury |
The Texans placed veteran running back Joe Mixon on the non‑football injury list as he deals with a lingering foot issue.
Mixon's reportedly expected to sit out for an extended period, with his status to be re‑evaluated closer to their September 7 season opener against the Rams.
The timing likely rules Mixon out for much of the preseason—possibly all of it—and leaves Week 1 availability in doubt.
His absence thrusts offseason acquisitions Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks into lead-back roles behind C.J. Stroud. |
🥊 Zayas Dominates Garcia, Becomes Youngest Active World Champ |
Xander Zayas made a statement in style last night—the 22‑year‑old Puerto Rican boxed his way to a commanding unanimous decision over Jorge “Chino” Garcia for the vacant WBO super‑welterweight title.
Judges scored it 119‑109, 118‑110 and 116‑112, as Zayas showcased elite footwork, sharp counters and ring IQ to dominate Garcia's aggressive style.
With the win, Zayas becomes boxing’s youngest active world champion today, inheriting that crown at just 22 years and roughly 330 days old. |
