⚾ Red Sox Sign Roman Anthony to 8yr/$130M Extension |
The Red Sox locked up rookie outfielder Roman Anthony for the long haul with an eight‑year, $130 million extension that keeps him under team control through the 2034 season, pending a physical.
At just 21, Anthony catapulted onto the scene with an electrifying .276/.392/.417 slash and a recent eight-game hit streak, quickly proving he belongs.
The deal includes a club option and plenty of performance escalators—Rookie of the Year nods, All‑Star selections, MVP bucks—pushing total upside toward $230 million.
As Anthony himself put it at Fenway, “I wanted to be here… winning in Boston is different,” and he couldn’t think of a better place to spend the prime of his life. |
⚾ Jays Record 63 Hits in Sweep of Rockies, Most Since 1900 |
The Blue Jays absolutely cooked the Rockies in Denver, piling up an jaw-dropping 63 hits across their three‑game sweep—the most by any team in a three‑game set since 1900.
To say Toronto wrecked shop is an understatement—they dropped 45 total runs (including routs of 15‑1, 10‑4, and a 20‑1 finale), setting franchise records for both hits and runs in a series.
“Averaging 20‑plus hits a game in a three‑game series is pretty absurd,” said Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman, who had a front-row seat to the onslaught. | 🎾 Shelton Def. Fritz in All‑American Semifinal at Toronto |
Ben Shelton powered past fellow American Taylor Fritz 6‑4, 6‑3 in Wednesday night’s all‑American semifinal at the National Bank Open in Toronto, earning a spot in his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 final.
At 22, he’s the youngest American to reach such a final since Andy Roddick back in 2004—bringing serious swagger to the North American hard-court scene.
Next up: a big‑stage clash against Karen Khachanov tonight for the title. |
