Good morning! 👋
It’s Tuesday, July 22. On this day in 1984, Kathy Whitworth became the all-time winner in professional golf tournaments—earning her 85th at the Rochester Open to surpass Sam Snead. She finished her career with a still-standing LPGA record of 88.

⚾ Phillies Walk-Off Red Sox on Catcher's Interference |
The Phillies pulled off a dramatic 3-2 walk-off victory over the Red Sox on Monday night thanks to an ultra-rare catcher's interference call in the 10th inning.
With the bases loaded, Edmundo Sosa checked his swing, and replay confirmed his bat clipped Carlos Narvaez’s glove, triggering one of the rarest game-ending plays in MLB—only the second since 1971. See video.
Both dugouts were left in disbelief, but Sosa said afterward, “Feels exactly like a home run,” capturing the surreal moment.
Phillies manager Rob Thomson added with a grin, “I’ve never seen that before in 40 years,” nodding to one of the wildest finishes you’ll ever see. |
🏀 Clippers, Chris Paul Reunite on One-Year Deal |
Chris Paul is heading back to LA—this time in a reserve role—with a one-year, $3.6 million veteran‑minimum deal to rejoin the Clippers, a franchise he helped define during the “Lob City” era.
The 40‑year‑old averaged 8.8 points and 7.4 assists last season with San Antonio, and now he’s trading a full-time starter’s job for a supporting role alongside James Harden and Bradley Beal.
More importantly, Paul can finally settle near his LA‑based family and chase that elusive championship in what he’s calling likely his 21st and final NBA campaign. | 💰 Big 12 Rejects $200M+ Memphis Sponsorship Offer |
The Big 12 reportedly nixed an eye-popping bid from Memphis to join the conference—dangling a staggering $200 million‑plus in corporate sponsorship money and offering to forgo media rights payments for five years.
Despite more than a year of relationship-building, including Presidents and athletic directors meeting face-to-face, the Big 12 brass remained unmoved.
The rejection shows that in college athletics, brand recognition and TV footprint still trump straight-up financial muscle.
Memphis now faces questions about whether their next move lies in the Big East, the revamped Pac‑12, or another Power Five path. |
